Customs officials seize illegal gold jewelry at Lesovo Border Crossing, Bulgaria today. A thorough search of a United Kingdom-plated car revealed hidden gold jewelry.
The jewelry was concealed in a woman passenger’s handbag and on her body.
More than seven hundred grams of gold pieces were discovered and confiscated immediately. Authorities estimated the value of the gold jewelry at fifty thousand one hundred euros.
An investigation has begun into the source and purpose of the smuggled jewelry. Officials continue researching who owned the items and their intended transportation destination.
