Bulgarian police dismantle migrant smuggling gang, detaining nineteen suspects across several cities. Border Police raided sites in Sofia, Pernik, Silistra, and Blagoevgrad this week.
Investigators had tracked the criminal network since March, using continuous coordinated surveillance.
Suspects hid migrants inside specially built compartments within trucks during border crossings. Migrants stayed in Sofia apartments before being transported onward to Western Europe.
Among detainees are Bulgarian citizens and Syrian nationals, including three permanent residents. Prosecutors ordered suspects held seventy-two hours; one leader abroad still faces charges.
