Belgium breaks five-year record on tap water usage amid extreme heat. Flanders region experienced rising temperatures, causing citizens to increase household water consumption rapidly.

On Friday, total tap water usage surpassed previous records set in recent years.

Belgian authorities stated water consumption increased noticeably both Thursday and Friday this week. The earlier record was set last June on a particularly hot Sunday afternoon.

Despite rising numbers, no issues affected drinking water supply or distribution systems at all. Officials urge residents to use tap water responsibly, regardless of weather or season.
