Bulgarian police launched operation targeting international drug trafficking towards neighboring Greece today. The crackdown focused on Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil regions in western Bulgaria mainly.
A courier was arrested at Koulata border crossing carrying over half a kilogram heroin.
Authorities confirmed the seized substance tested positive as heroin following preliminary investigations completed. Blagoevgrad regional prosecutor’s office supervised the operation closely in coordination with national authorities.
Police carried out coordinated raids on dozens of properties and vehicles belonging to suspects involved. The criminal group’s alleged leader is already imprisoned for an unrelated previous crime currently.
