Germany Sees Population Decline in Twenty Twenty-Five After Years of Growth

Germany's population dropped for the first time since twenty twenty, officials said. Federal Statistics Office reported population fell to eighty-three point five million residents.

Decline linked to shrinking natural increase, slower net migration into the country.

Net immigration dropped from four hundred thirty thousand to two hundred thirty-five thousand. Eastern German states saw half percent decrease, western regions fell only slightly.

Baby boomer generation ages sixty to seventy-nine increased nearly two point five percent. Turkish citizens remain Germany's largest foreign group, totaling about one million three hundred thousand.
