Belgium faces ownership disputes over nine million euros worth of discovered gold. At least five individuals contacted police, each claiming partial or full ownership rights.

Some claimants include relatives, one referencing gold hidden during a previous life.

Applications even arrived from abroad, such as a Latvian with family ties. Authorities are investigating possible links between the gold and criminal activities locally.

Police urge potential heirs to consult lawyers or notaries, not approach directly themselves. A civil court will eventually determine the legal owner of the disputed gold.
