Belgium faces heat waves which threaten vegetable gardens through unusual weather patterns. Locally grown tomatoes, carrots, and zucchini may experience significant yield losses this year.

Experts link rapid warming, following moist spring chills, to stunted plant growth issues.

Greenhouse farmer Sandrine Detry reports tomatoes are sparse, frequently damaged this season. She notes flowers wilt almost immediately, disrupting pollination processes and reducing harvests.

Other crops like carrots, zucchinis, and onions are also suffering from the harsh conditions. Producers are urged to use shade and reflective tunnels to mitigate extreme heat effects.
