PFAS Detected in Dutch Mothers’ Milk Raises Health Concerns Across Netherlands

PFAS chemicals found in mothers’ milk spark major concern in Netherlands. RIVM studied milk samples from over one thousand six hundred Dutch mothers recently.

Amongst the samples, experts detected twenty-nine distinct PFAS chemical types overall.

Four particular PFAS types appeared almost universally within all Dutch mothers’ milk samples. Eighty-two percent of the samples were below the health risk threshold established.

Eighteen percent showed PFAS concentrations exceeding health risks, threatening children’s immune systems. Authorities emphasize breastfeeding benefits remain vital despite ongoing environmental chemical exposure concerns.
