Bulgaria's Economic and Social Council strongly opposes proposed European Union budget cuts. On October seventeenth, the council warned against the proposed eight percent reduction.
Employers, trade unions, and civil society groups shared a broad common consensus.
Officials feared the cuts could weaken the bloc's ability to respond effectively. Proposed reductions also target Horizon Europe and the European Competitiveness Fund heavily.
The council also demanded keeping the N plus three rule for funds. Germany and France remain sharply divided as negotiations over the budget continue.
